Trail Guides To Wilderness Regions of Western Newfoundland |
 |
Cormack Expeditions have published several trail guides to the backcountry of Western Newfoundland Island. The guides are designed to allow a hiker the freedom of a self-guided adventure. Each includes the precice location of start and finish points, Global Positioning System waypoints and compass bearings to prominent landmarks.
| Each guide is laser-printed, with black text, on 8.5" x 11" white paper and is also available as e-mail attachments in Adobe PDF, Corel WPD and MS Word DOC formats. |
|
The routes described are to undeveloped wilderness areas. There are very few marked trails of any kind - except animal trails. Each area described is of special interest because of geography, scenery, flora and fauna. The distances vary from a couple of kilometres, which can be covered in a few hours, to over fifty kilometres, which would require several days and nights out.
Navigation competency requirement levels also vary from novice to expert. All require some level of competency with map and compass navigation.
